Certification Status:

BlueCross BlueShield certification links will be emailed directly to contracted agents once we have received a copy of their AHIP, E&O Insurance, and Life/Health License.  Certification is available year-round.

Certification Instructions

The BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York certification is a total of 3 modules.  These modules are:

  • Products Training (Module + 20 Question Test)
  • Medicare Overview (Module)
  • Compliance Training (Module + 30 Question Test as Needed)

Approximately 2 hours are needed to complete the Products training/testing and the Compliance training/testing (about 1 hour each).  Agents are not allowed to use reference materials during the exam.  However, there is no set time limit for these trainings.

Agents are allowed two attempts, you must pass both the Products and Compliance tests to sell BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York products.  There will be no additional attempts rewarded under any circumstances.  The minimum passing score is 85%.  After two failed attempts, agents will be locked out of the certification portal and will not be eligible to certify until the following year.

Immediately following the exam, agents will receive their test scores along with their certification certificate.

Is AHIP Required for Certification?

AHIP is required for certification with BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York.  If the agents would like to take the AHIP course, it can be purchased through the Care Value link for $125.00, a $50.00 discount off the original price.

In most situation AHIP can be used in place of the Compliance training and testing module.

Will Certifying for 2018 Allow Me to Sell 2017 Products?

No, 2018 certification will not permit you to sell for the remainder of the 2017 season.

How Do I Retrieve My Username and Password?

Once an agents Life/Health license, E&O insurance, and AHIP certification are received and verified, they will be sent their Username and Password via email from Anna Bliven (anna.bliven@info.carevalue.com).

Submitting Business

How to Submit Business with Excellus BCBS:

Agents must submit BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York business directly to Care Value using the Secure Application Manager (SAM) in AllRep.  Due to new CMS cybersecurity guidelines, we can no longer accept faxed or emailed applications.

How to Upload Applications to the Secure Application Manager.
  • Log in to CareValue.com
  • Hover over your name and select “AllRep”
  • Select the “Secure Application Manager” button
  • Disposition your application, and enter in beneficiary info
  • Select “Check Opportunities”
  • Create a new app or edit business under an existing client
  • If you have created a new app, enter in additional beneficiary information
  • Select “Next”
  • Enter in plan information (all fields on this screen are required)
  • Select “Next”
  • Attach appropriate files, click “file type” to label the file.  You may drag and drop files or browse and select from your computer.  Your files may include:
    • Scope of Appointment
    • Enrollment Application
    • EPIC App
    • Agent Worksheet
    • Enrollment Confirmation
  • Select “Next”
  • Review your application information.  Use the “Previous” button to make changes to your submission.
  • Click “Submit Application”

Compliance

General Information:

Brokers MUST be certified and product-trained annually to receive commissions on new sales AND renewals.

Care Value Insurance Marketing has adopted a “pay-as-paid” method on our commission payments. Therefore, when we get paid from Excellus BCBS on your cases, we will pay you. Excellus BCBS pays once a month. You can view your commission statements on myCare Value.
